BIOGRAPHY
The Way Downs play early 70's style funk, groove and soul-jazz. Our sound is shaped around the work of Blue Mitchell, Donald Byrd, the Pharoahs and other like-minded groups. The songs are upbeat, with an unrelenting groove calculated to get booties shaking. Most of us hail from the the funk mecca of SLC, Utah; only Matt Sherman gets out of bearing this particular cross by being an old-skool Portland guy. We have shared the stage with Devin Phillips, Will Bernard, Das Vibenbass and Maurice Brown in the past year, and feel certain that our best gigs lay ahead.
